The Bangladesh Cricket Board had asked to play the T20 World Cup outside India. They wanted to play in Sri Lanka instead. ICC has clearly rejected this request.
ICC has warned Bangladesh that if the team does not come to India to play, they will be out of the World Cup. In that case, Scotland will get Bangladesh’s place in the tournament.
Bangladesh has been given 24 hours to inform ICC about their final decision. If they fail to respond within this time, Scotland will officially replace them.
The T20 World Cup is set to begin on February 7.
A total of 16 countries voted on Bangladesh’s request. Out of them, 14 countries voted against Bangladesh. Only Pakistan supported Bangladesh.
