Big Change in ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026: Scotland Replaces Bangladesh

The ICC has made a big update to the upcoming Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Scotland will now play in the tournament instead of Bangladesh.
This news came out on Saturday(24/01/2026). The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said no to playing their matches in India as per the given schedule. Because of this, the ICC decided to remove Bangladesh and bring in Scotland.
Bangladesh asked the ICC to shift their games from India to Sri Lanka. They said they had security worries for their players and team in India.
The ICC checked this carefully. They used both their own experts and outside experts to look into the security situation. After full checks, the ICC said there is no real or proven security threat to the Bangladesh team, officials, or anyone connected to them in India.
Scotland now joins Group C. (England,West Indies,Nepal,Italy,Scotland)

The tournament starts soon on February 7, 2026. It will run until March 8, 2026. India and Sri Lanka are co-hosting the event, with matches in many big stadiums across both countries.
This is a surprise last-minute chance for Scotland. They get to play in one of the biggest T20 events because of the change.
