Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling assures strict enforcement and stronger inspections amid rising complaints across multiple districts

Food adulteration concerns have increased in Odisha. Many daily food items sold in markets face complaints of mixing harmful substances. Items like Horlicks, bread, masala, edible oil, curd, biscuits, and baby food products show adulteration. Even sealed packets have such issues.
Essential items such as salt and milk also face similar complaints. The problem appears in several districts. These include Khordha, Dhenkanal, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj, and Boudh. Khordha shows more cases. Authorities seized adulterated products, including Horlicks, from these areas. Some samples contain toxic substances.
This matter came up in the Odisha Legislative Assembly. There was strong discussion on it.Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling told the Assembly that the government takes this matter seriously. He said strict action will come against those who break food safety rules. The government will make checks stronger. He advised people to stay careful when buying food from markets. Investigations are ongoing in this case.
