Ministry of Information and Broadcasting takes action against OTT platforms

OTT platforms face strict action from the government. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has blocked five OTT platforms. These platforms were found streaming obscene and vulgar content. This violates existing content regulations in India.
The blocked platforms are MoodXVIP, Koyal Playpro, Digi Movieplex, Feel, and Jugnu. The government took this step on Tuesday. It directed internet service providers to restrict access to these services. Users in India can no longer reach these platforms.
The action came under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, 2000. Officials said the decision followed checks by authorities. They found objectionable material on the platforms. The ministry followed the procedure set by law for this intervention.
This move aims to stop the spread of such content online. The platforms hosted material that broke rules on decency and public standards. The government used powers under the IT Act to block them quickly.
Users who tried to access MoodXVIP, Koyal Playpro, Digi Movieplex, Feel, or Jugnu will now see restrictions. Internet providers must block these sites and apps across the country. This prevents viewing of the obscene and vulgar videos or shows they offered.
No official quote from the ministry was shared in the announcement. The focus remains on following legal steps to protect online content standards.People in India should expect these OTT platforms to stay blocked. They must avoid using them or seek similar services. Legal access to streaming content should follow government rules on decency. This action is part of ongoing efforts to regulate OTT content and maintain public order in digital spaces.
The decision shows the government’s stand on enforcing content laws. It targets platforms that do not meet required standards. Users need to choose approved and regulated OTT services for safe viewing. This helps keep online spaces free from objectionable material
