President Droupadi Murmu Takes Historic Sortie in LCH Prachand Helicopter

President Droupadi Murmu took a sortie in the indigenous Light Combat Helicopter Prachand at Air Force Station Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, on Friday.The President flew as co-pilot in the LCH Prachand. The sortie started from the Jaisalmer Indian Air Force station. She wore an olive-green flying suit and helmet. Before the flight, the captain briefed her on the helicopter.

President Droupadi Murmu said that we are extremely proud of our country’s brave air warriors. She described LCH Prachand as a powerful symbol of Atmanirbhar Bharat.The Light Combat Helicopter Prachand is India’s first indigenously designed and developed combat helicopter. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited built it. The helicopter works in many terrains, like deserts and high mountains. It can fly at heights over 5,000 metres. This makes it useful for border areas.The LCH Prachand has advanced features. It includes stealth design and night attack ability. It carries weapons like air-to-ground missiles, air-to-air missiles, rockets, and a 20 mm gun. These help the Indian Air Force in operations.The sortie lasted about 25 minutes. It was part of a two-aircraft formation. President Droupadi Murmu flew in the lead aircraft.This event shows India’s progress in defence manufacturing. The President has flown in other aircraft before, like Sukhoi 30 MKI and Rafale.People can expect more focus on indigenous defence equipment. The armed forces continue to use such platforms for training and operations.
