Odisha Vigilance arrests retired headmaster Pradip Kumar Mohanty and his wife Gitarani Mohanty in Rs 5.56 crore pension misappropriation case after days on the run.
Rs 5.56 crore pension fraud case has led to the arrest of key accused by Odisha Vigilance. On Thursday, officials arrested Pradip Kumar Mohanty and his wife Gitarani Mohanty. The couple had been on the run for several days.
The arrests took place in Bhadrak. Pradip Kumar Mohanty is a retired headmaster. He was earlier re-engaged at the Block Education Officer (BEO) office in Korei, Jajpur district. The fraud happened at this office.
The misappropriation took place over nearly six years. It ran from November 2018 to September 2024. The total loss to the government exchequer stands at Rs 5,56,11,495.Vigilance officials said the duo first took shelter in Kolkata.
