Odisha Blocks FASTag Recharge for Vehicles Without Insurance or PUCC from February 1

Odisha Blocks FASTag Recharge for Vehiclesfrom February 1

Odisha Blocks FASTag Recharge for Vehicles that do not have valid insurance or a Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC), starting February 1. The new rule will prevent FASTag recharge for non-compliant vehicles across the state.
This move is part of a nationwide directive aimed at improving road safety, reducing pollution, and ensuring accountability among vehicle owners. Authorities want to ensure that all vehicles on the road meet mandatory insurance and emission standards.
Under the new system, vehicles without valid insurance or PUCC will automatically be restricted from recharging their FASTag accounts. This digital enforcement is expected to reduce violations and encourage timely compliance.
In addition, commercial vehicles in Odisha must install Vehicle Location Tracking Devices by January 1. These devices will help authorities monitor vehicle movement and enhance passenger safety.
From April 1, physical inspections for vehicle fitness and pollution checks will also become mandatory. Transport officials will conduct regular inspections to ensure vehicles meet required safety and environmental norms.
With Odisha blocking FASTag recharge for vehicles lacking proper documents, the government aims to create safer roads and a cleaner environment while promoting responsible vehicle ownership.
