PSLV-C62 Successfully Launches EOS-N1 with 15 Co-Passenger Satellites

PSLV-C62 / EOS-N1 Mission

The PSLV-C62 / EOS-N1 mission launched successfully on 12 January 2026 from the First Launch Pad at Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) in Sriharikota. Countdown operations began at 09:45 IST, and the launch vehicle lifted off at 10:18:30 IST. The mission carried the EOS-N1 earth observation satellite along with 15 co-passenger satellites. According to the mission plan, EOS-N1 and 14 co-passenger satellites are being placed into a Sun Synchronous Orbit (SSO).

The KID (Kestrel Initial Technology Demonstrator) capsule, developed by a Spanish startup, is on a path for re-entry and is expected to enter Earth’s atmosphere with a splashdown planned in the South Pacific Ocean. This launch is the 9th dedicated commercial mission by NewSpace India Limited (NSIL).

NSIL built and launched the EOS-N1 satellite and provides launch services to both domestic and international customers. The mission used the PSLV-DL variant, which has two solid strap-on motors, and it is the 64th flight of ISRO’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV).

The integration of the launch vehicle and satellites was completed successfully, and all pre-launch checks were done as scheduled. The PSLV, known as ISRO’s workhorse, has completed 63 earlier missions, including Chandrayaan-1, Mars Orbiter Mission (Mangalyaan), Aditya-L1, and Astrosat. In 2017, PSLV set a world record by launching 104 satellites in a single mission.
