Retaking Exam Becomes Tough for IAS & IPS Officers

Big Change in Civil Services Exam Rules
Big Change in Civil Services Exam Rules

The Civil Services Examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is considered the toughest exam in India. Every year, lakhs of candidates appear for the exam with the dream of becoming IAS, IPS, and IFS officers.

Recently, the Central Government has made some major changes in the exam rules. These new rules have made it difficult for officers who have already joined the service to appear for the Civil Services Examination again.

According to the new guidelines, if a candidate has already been selected as an IAS or IPS officer and has joined duty, they will not be allowed to appear for the Civil Services Examination again. Earlier, many officers used to retake the exam to improve their rank or to get their preferred cadre.

Now, if such officers want to appear for the exam again, they must first resign from their current post.

The rules have also been tightened for IPS officers. If a person has already been appointed as an IPS officer and wants to appear for the UPSC exam again, they will not be able to choose IPS as their first preference. This means they can apply only for IAS, IFS, or other Group-A services.

The government believes that these changes will bring stability in administration and ensure that officers focus fully on their responsibilities.
