Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas issues LPG eKYC update for domestic consumers who have not yet completed the process
LPG eKYC rules have been clarified by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. The ministry stated that biometric Aadhaar authentication, also known as eKYC, is required only for LPG consumers who have not completed it yet.
Non-Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) customers who have already finished their eKYC do not need to repeat the process. This update addresses confusion among domestic LPG users about the authentication requirement.
The clarification came after recent announcements urging consumers to complete biometric verification. The ministry emphasized that the rule applies only to those pending the step.
LPG eKYC Requirement Details
The biometric Aadhaar authentication helps verify consumer details for LPG services. It uses Aadhaar-based eKYC to ensure accurate identification.
For consumers who have not done it, the process remains necessary. Those who completed it earlier are exempt from redoing it.
Non-PMUY customers form a key group in this clarification. If their eKYC is already done, no further action is needed.
