Today is the holy day of Magha Saptami, a very special and sacred day. On this occasion, the Arka Kshetra (Konark area) has become lively with a huge gathering of devotees.
From early morning, a large number of people are taking a holy dip at Chandrabhaga beach. Lakhs of devotees also took a dip in the sea and offered prayers to Lord Surya (Sun God).
It is believed that taking a holy bath on Magha Saptami brings blessings from God. Priests present at the site said that this special date has come after 31 years, making the day even more important.
