Our Honorable Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi launched (February 3, 2026) a wonderful new scheme called Mukhyamantri Kanya Bibaha Yojana (MKBY) at the famous Tara Tarini Temple in Ganjam district. In a beautiful mass wedding, he blessed 201 couples and even performed ‘kanyadaan’ for some brides. This scheme is all about making sure poor families don’t face money problems when marrying off their daughters – especially for SC/ST and economically weaker sections.
The goal Is- Help girls get married with dignity, stop child marriages, encourage legal registrations, and promote widow remarriages. No more seeing daughters as a “burden” – that’s the strong message from the CM.
