NHAI Creates History with Two New Guinness World Records in Highway Construction

NHAI sets two new Guinness World Records by laying 156 lane-km of Bituminous Concrete on the Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada corridor, showcasing India’s growing strength in world-class highway infrastructure.

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has once again brought pride to the country by creating two new Guinness World Records in continuous road paving, marking a historic moment in India’s highway development journey.

A massive 156 lane-kilometres of road paving and 57,500 metric tonnes of Bituminous Concrete were completed in one continuous stretch, surpassing the previous world record of 84.4 lane-kilometres. This achievement was recorded on Package-2 and Package-3 of the six-lane Bengaluru–Kadapa–Vijayawada Economic Corridor near Puttaparthi.

The record-breaking work was carried out using modern machines, well-coordinated material supply, and close monitoring to maintain quality. Officials said the milestone reflects India’s ability to execute large infrastructure projects at an unprecedented scale.
Earlier, on 6 January 2026, NHAI had already set two global records on the same corridor by completing 28.8 lane-kilometres and 10,655 metric tonnes of Bituminous Concrete within 24 hours, highlighting rapid progress and efficiency.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India’s highway development has gained new momentum. These achievements underline the country’s growing reputation in building world-class roads and strengthening national connectivity.
