Shocking Murder of Transwoman in Pipili : Community Demands Justice

Bhubaneswar: A heartbreaking crime has left the transgender community in deep shock and anger. A transgender known as Anjali alias Sona was stabbed to death late Sunday night near the CIFA area in Uttara Chhak, Pipili , right on the busy Bhubaneswar-Puri highway (NH-316).
It happened around 9 PM. Two young men came on a bike, stopped her while she was walking, and a fight broke out. They pulled out a knife and stabbed her several times. She tried to run away but they chased her down and attacked again until she fell near a pile of sand. People nearby quickly took her to Capital Hospital, but sadly, doctors said she was already gone.

From: Salepur in Cuttack district
Recently moved: Came to Bhubaneswar just a couple of days back and started staying in the Uttara area
What she did: Worked as a yoga teacher in the city
Police Are Saying Pipili police reached the spot fast and started investigating right away. The attackers used a sharp knife
She was found lying in a pool of blood. Police are checking CCTV cameras along the highway and nearby spots to identify the bike riders
Early suspicion is that it was because of some old personal fight or enmity – but nothing is confirmed yet No one has been arrested so far.
The news spread quickly and the transgender community is furious and scared. On Monday, people came out on the streets Blocked Airport Road near the Biju Patnaik Airport. Held protests at AG Square and other places Demanding immediate arrest of the killers and better safety for trans people. Many in the community are saying this kind of violence keeps happening and something needs to change fast.
