Air Droppable Container ADC-150 completes successful in-flight trials off Goa coast for enhanced naval support

Air Droppable Container

Air Droppable Container ADC-150 has successfully completed key trials with the Indian Navy. The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Navy carried out four in-flight release trials of the indigenous Air Droppable Container ADC-150. These trials took place from the P8I aircraft off the coast of Goa. The tests happened between February 21 and March 01, 2026. They occurred under different extreme release conditions.

The Air Droppable Container ADC-150 is designed and developed in India. It can deliver a payload of 150 kg. This helps improve naval operational logistics. It provides quick response to naval vessels in distress. These vessels may need critical stores, equipment, or medical assistance. This is useful when ships are deployed far from the coast in open sea areas.

The Naval Science & Technological Laboratory in Visakhapatnam served as the nodal laboratory for this work. The Aerial Delivery Research & Development Establishment in Agra developed the parachute system. The Centre for Military Airworthiness & Certification in Bengaluru gave flight clearance and certification. The Defence Research & Development Laboratory in Hyderabad provided instrumentation support during the trials.

Air Droppable Container ADC-150 Development and Trials

The Air Droppable Container ADC-150 system was made for the P8I aircraft to meet Indian Navy needs. It was developed and qualified in a short timeframe. All developmental flight trials finished successfully.
The successful trials mean the Air Droppable Container ADC-150 is ready for next steps. The system is expected to be inducted into the Indian Navy soon.

Naval forces will gain better ability to deliver urgent supplies by air. Ships far at sea can receive help faster in emergencies. This boosts readiness and support for operations in distant waters. The focus remains on self-reliance in defence technology through indigenous systems like the Air Droppable Container ADC-150.
